The following calculators include a post hole calculator,  soil hole calculators, and a concrete calculator related to installing posts.  Also, pipe volume and weight when filled with water and a shop vacuum weight when filled with different soils.  All of these will help with tasks relating to soils. These include the swell volumes, the changed volume from compacted soil to loose soil.

Most unique is the concrete requirement for 4×4 posts in circular holes. In addition, the pipe water volume and cache tube volume calculator is rather unique for persons using pipes to store liquid or as cache tubes.

Our newest calculator will calculate the weight of a shop vacuum filled with the specified gallons of material selected.  This is very helpful when using your shop vacuum to dig holes.

Hole Calculator Descriptions

1. Circular Hole Calculator for Soils

Soil Volume Weight Calculator for Round Holes

Use the Soil Volume Weight Swell Calculator, one of our soil hole calculators to determine the volume of a hole in (cubic feet) and (gallons), the weight of the soil removed and the new volume in (cubic feet) and (gallons) based on soil swell factor.  The calculated numbers can be used to determine the amount of soil that a Shop Vacuum will have to remove in Cubic Feet and Gallons and  Soil Weight in pounds.

These numbers are useful when selecting a shop vacuum as described in the blog article on Selecting The Best Hole Digging Shop Vacuum and for determining the size of a Shop Vacuum for digging holes.  Also see the blog page on Digging Deep, Straight, Uniform Holes with a Shop-Vac for more information.

This calculator computes the hole volume in cubic feet and gallons, the soil weight in pounds, based on selected soil densities and input hole dimensions. The calculator also computes the removed soil volume based on selected soil swell factors.

2. Rectangular Hole Calculator for Soils

Soil Volume Weight Calculator for Rectangular Holes

Use this Rectangular Soil Hole Volume Calculator one of our soil hole calculators to determine the volume of a rectangular hole, in (cubic feet), and in (gallons). The calculator also outputs the weight of the soil removed and the new volume, in (cubic feet), and in (gallons), based on the soil swell factor.  The output numbers can be used to determine the amount of soil that a Shop Vacuum will have to remove in Cubic Feet, and in Gallons, and the Soil Weight in pounds.

These numbers will be useful when selecting a shop vacuum as described in the blog article on Selecting The Best Hole Digging Shop Vacuum, and for determining the size of a Shop Vacuum for digging holes.  See the blog page article on Digging Deep, Straight, Uniform Holes with a Shop-Vac for more information.  See the blog article on Rectangular Hole Soil Volume Calculator .

This soil hole calculator computes the hole volume in cubic feet and gallons, the soil weight in pounds, based on selected soil densities and input hole dimensions. The calculator also computes the removed soil volume based on selected soil swell factors.

3. Quikrete Concrete Calculator for Square Posts

Quikrete Concrete Calculator for Square Posts

This 4×4 Fence Post Hole Concrete Calculator computes the volume and weight of QUIKRETE required for a 4 × 4 post. Input hole diameter, hole depth and the number of post holes. The output also computes the total amount of QUIKRETE required and number of 40 pound, 60 pound, or 80 pound bags.  For more information visit the QUICKRETE web page.

4. PVC Pipe Water Volume & Weight Calculator

PVC Pipe Volume & Water Weight Calculator

This calculator, one of our soil hole calculators computes the volume of a cylinder pipe in gallons and the weight of water that this volume would hold when full.  This calculator was developed for PVC “Cache” Storage tubes.  The tubes can be filled with water for emergency purposes.   The pipe size is selectable and the pipe length is a required input.

5. PVC Constant Volume Pipe Length Calculator

PVC Constant Volume Pipe Length Calculator

Use the following Constant Volume Pipe Length Calculator to determine the length of different diameters of standard PVC pipe for the same internal volume.  The output is in (inches) for different standard diameters of SDR 35 and SDR 26 PVC Pipe.  In addition, the standard internal diameters (ID’s) shown are for 4-inch, 6-inch, 8-inch, 10-inch and 12-inch PVC Pipe.

6. Shop Vacuum Weight Calculator for Soils

Shop Vacuum Weight Calculator

Use this Shop Vacuum Weight Calculator to determine the weight of soil inside your shop vacuum.  Input number of gallons, use the tank size in gallons if you expect to fill it full.  Select the soil density drop down and the soil swell factor drop down.   Output is the Total Weight of the material inside the Shop Vacuum Tank.

7. Air Watts Calculator

Shop Vac Air Watts Calculator

Use this 1st calculator to compute Air Watts with input of CFM and ” H20 Suction, or use the the 2nd calculator to compute CFM with Air Watts and Inches H20 Suction inputs.
